christmas thru court's eyes

we took court to get his first christmas tree on sunday. we love the fact that we can drive for 30 minutes and go to a real christmas tree farm to get a real live tree. we also had court's christmas pictures taken with santa by B4 Photography.

there are a bunch of pics in this post. we had so much fun at the farm. the christmas pics should be back in a week or so. they are SO stinkin' cute! i can't wait to post them!

it was SO cold and windy sunday, so we bundled court up in his hat and mittens!

and then of course the most precious baby... our new nephew cade michael grimes. court and i got to spend the afternoon with him.... kinda makes ya want to have a baby, doesn't it?!?!! :)

cade michael is finally here!!!

i wanted to send out an update before we head to groom today. here is the most precious baby boy (well, besides court, of course). mr. cade michael arrived tuesday, nov. 25th at 7:15 pm with daddy jon helping to deliver him. momma and baby are doing fabulous! he weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long. we are headed to the hospital this morning to get some good lovin'!!! :) i'll update more when i get back!

after rhett babyproofed the kitchen, i set up a little area for court to play in while i'm cooking each day (yeah right, more like once a week). he has his own cabinet and everything. the dogs could really care less that he is in there. they really wish court would just share his nice comfy blanket with them.

chili recipe

for those of you that asked for the yummy chili recipe i talked about a few weeks ago, here it is. :)

Chili

Tomatoes

1  14.5 oz. can Hunts Choice Cut Diced Tomatoes w/Italian herbs

1  14.5 oz. can Del Monte Fresh cut peeled diced tomatoes seasoned w/basil, garlic, & oregano

1  14.5 oz. can Del Monte stewed mexican tomatoes w/garlic, cumin, & jalepeno

2  15 oz. cans Hunts seasoned diced tomato sauce for chili

Beans

1   26 oz. can Ranch style beans w/chopped sweet onions

2   15.5 oz. cans Bush's chili magic chili starter - Texas style medium

3   15 oz. cans Ranch styler black beans (drain but do not rinse)

Seasoning Packets

2  1.25 oz. envelopes McCormick's Original Chili Seasoning

3   Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix envelopes - original

Other

10-12 oz. fo Foster's Beer or Red Dog

3 pounds of ground beef

Directions:

Brown meat and drain. Process all tomatoes & seasonings together (in a food processor until pureed).  Put tomato mixture in a pot over medium-low heat, add in 1/2 can of beer, stir oftern so bottom doesn't burn.  After well heated, add beans & meat - stir often. Add more beer & salt to taste. Enjoy!

better late than never!!!

here are the professional pics from our photo shoot at the beginning of october. after being lost twice in the mail, we got them hand delivered last night! court was NOT a fan of the hay or the pumpkins during this shoot. i think if we did it today, however, he'd love it!!! :) my, how this boy changes!!!! excuse the "blurriness". when i downloaded them to the blog, i chose to do the smallest (less quality) since i had so many pics and wanted to download fast. they are really clear in person, i just didn't want to wait for them to take forever! :)

this would be the "only" shot of court smiling in the pumpkins.... little stinker. :)

we didn't really trick-or-treat with court this year, but we couldn't resist dressing him up!!

we went to mom/dad's neighborhood and went for a walk and let court watch all the little kids dressed up in their costumes. he missed the parade because it was nap time. hopefully, next year he'll get to join in with them! :)

court loves this hay. we could hardly get him to look at the camera because he wanted to eat all the hay!

what do you wipe first?!?!?!?! 

i just went to change court's diaper before his afternoon snooze and it was FULL of you know what. so, as i'm attempting to clean up the very mushy stuff, court decides to help me by grabbing at his diaper (his new trick) completely covering his hand in..... yes - poop. so, here's the dilemma - what do you wipe first??? i first went for his hand because that is his favorite teething toy at the moment so i just knew it would be a matter of seconds before that went into his mouth. but, then his hand was going "down there" again and i wanted to clean that before he was totally covered in it. and all of this while he is flipping over onto his stomach because i'm sure he thinks i need to learn some new skills myself (a.k.a.: wrestling with a 7 month old).

so, just picture me trying to hold court still while he's squirming all over the place with poop on his hand, all over his bottom half because it's not cleaning up nicely, and wipes everywhere.

if i could have made it to the bath tub without dropping poop all over the carpet and having yet 1 more thing to clean up, i would have done it! i'm gonna go take my 2nd shower for the day right now.  i guess we'll see later tonight when we both get in our jammies if there is anything i left "behind" that didn't get cleaned up just now. uuggggghhhhh! i'm so grossed out right now! :)

i need a raise!
